I went just yesterday and I’m not a picky person but I paid 34$ for a full set acrylic with 2 designs. The designs look horrible like a child did it. Then the man didn’t let them dry properly before doing the clear coat which smudged it. Then I get home and realize that one of my nails are crooked. Not slightly off but Highly Noticeable crooked. Horrible came in to take my nails off and get a full set nail tech decided he would do a overlay?? I didn't ask for that your nails will look natural he said I didn't ask him for that never asked what shape I wanted my nails just assumed I want square starts filing then gets upset these are the reason ppl don't come to these type of nails shop anymore they don't care or ask they just do it it's mostly the men that do this I had the guy with glasses and ponytail not the younger one the older one I've been coming her for 5yrs and time after time I tell myself I'm never coming back this time Never!!! Best to go Mon thru Thursday.. the earlier the better. Helen did my nails this time and I got a no chip fill in. Pretty good work. Just wish they had the new color I wanted in stock.. they didn't have my friends nail color in stock either. My favorite nail tech is MiMi. She always does great work on my nails . Read Less

If giving no stars were an option then they'd get that. Granted the staff was nice and made attempts to be accommodating they were not very skilled. The shop looked a bit dirty. I went because I wanted to try a new shop and wanted some flawless designs. I received everything but flawlessness. My nails are hideously sloppily painted and I will more than likely end up going back to my original shop. I had to continuously ask the technician to paint the sides of my nails. When she did the nail polish was applied to my FINGERS and cuticles which she did not even attempt to clean up until asked. The very next day a rhinestone had fallen off. Also I accidentally closed the door on my finger and my nail broke and I chipped a toe nail chasing my cat. ...it was fate...God didn't even want me to have those horrendous nails. This is a very busy nail shop, being that it's so busy sometimes it gets hectic and unorganized. I've been here mostly for my brows but I have been here once for a pedicure. When I received my pedicure it was a pleasant and comfortable experience. The guy who did my pedicure did a awesome job. I don't recall his name at the moment. On this particular visit, my last visit, I arrived to the nail shop and the door was locked, they were not closed they just decided the didn't want to take anymore clients for the day, so they locked the doors. If you run a business and have business hours it is very unprofessional to lock the doors before you actually close. That really upset me because I drove a far distance to get my brows done and they weren't technically closed yet. Once the guy found out I only wanted my brows done he let me in. I wrote my name in the book and had a seat and waited patiently. I only allow one person to do my brows in Nail Works because I'm very particular about my brows. If someone messes up your brows ... you have to wait 2 weeks until they grow back. I always try to get the best person to do my brows and I was told by a family member that TONY was the best. So I always ask for TONY. Long story short I waited, it seemed like and hour in a half or more to finally get my brows done. The guy who did my brows let a girl in front of me after I had been waiting forever I guess because she's a regular there and he knows her but that definitely rubbed me the wrong way because I had been waiting FOREVER. So that really made me not want to return. If someone is waiting for a service you should never ever put someone in front of them if they came in after and I know for a fact she didn't have an appointment or anything. I don't know if I'll ever return for brows but if I'm in the area I may get a pedicure, but that may not happen either. Read Less

I was trying a new shop... Look beautiful.... Lots of stations.... Very long wait times. I came here for 3 months..... They look BEAUTIFUL each time however EVERY TIME I broke a nail...twice within hours of leaving the shop. I tried 4 different people.... My real nails are long I kept telling them they needed a thick overlay... I don't think they have anyone skilled with longer nails.... Final straw one of the ladies dug into the side of my big toe with the cuticle cutter so far had it HURTING like couldn't let NOTHING rub against it for a month and it still is not 100% right.... First time going here, I could've sworn I saw that they opened at 10:00 am on weekdays but it was my fault for misreading. Anywho, it's a nice size shop but it's not as clean as it looks on pictures! There's numerous of booths to accommodate more customers, but from what I've seen they were only there for looks I guess. I had Tye I think his name was do my nails, he did great job but he was definitely rushing and nipped my skin which I didn't appreciate and was aggressive when filing and buffing my nails. There's no need to rush at all! I also requested to get my eyebrows arched and tinted, I'm not sure who usually does them but I informed her that I didn't want them waxed and I guess she felt offended by that. Went here for the 1st time yesterday (Wednesday), I like my nails a lot. I was a little irritated when the nail tech charged to cut down my nails, in my opinion this service should be included when you are getting a service. But, overall I am pleased with my nails & their prices are reasonable. I would only go early in the week because I can see that there is a lot of traffic in the area and wait times can get a little out of hand. The nail tech said that Mon-Wed is the best time to come! I always have a great experience when I come to this salon, so much that I have neglected my other go-to in Oak Lawn. You DO have to be aware of peak days/hours because when it's crowded the customer service isn't AS PERSONAL. Kat does my nails, toes and eyebrows...I won't allow anyone else to touch them because she does an amazing job. Once you find YOUR PERSON, stick with them. That's the catch! The trick to great eyebrows is grooming them and a waxing routine. Read Less

Don't listen! Like seriously! I asked to be soaked off w/foil for a no-chip... I told several people THESE ARE MY REAL NAILS...NOT GEL/ACRYLIC!!!! They sit me down for a pedicure and I ask again to be soaked off and I was told "No, let me finish your toes!" Really???? Never will I ever visit this establishment again! The customer service is beyond terrible and the technicians are unlicensed and unprofessional. Two weeks ago, I visited to get a fill-in on my acrylic overlay and an eyebrow wax. Nhu, who I do not believe is a licensed esthetician, put burning hot wax directly on my skin, causing my skin to burn! I looked in the mirror and almost cried!! I could see burns all over my forehead, and to top it off, they attempted to CHARGE me for... the service. Apparently I didn't learn my lesson because I went back on today and after calling and being placed on a list and being told there was about an hour wait for the nail tech I usually go to, I still ended up waiting about an hour for service! When I finally got in the nail techs chair, I was asked to get up because another client was there before me... seriously? After two hours?? I left. I called to get the owners name and was told that it doesn't get handed out "Willy-Nilly." Seriously? It's a consumer right to know who owns the establishments that you are a patron at. I guess they didn't expect me to know that, because when I told that to the "manager" I was told Thai and Lily before I hung up the phone. Save your money and go to a nice, reputable location. I use to frequent this place, however, it has went to hay. I got my nails done Monday, no chip and they are messed up already. Little scrawny ass manager first refused to see me , then tells .Eggleston I need to know of the name of the person who messed upmy nails ! Really, he walked away while I was talking to him, and continuedto do what he was doing! This is my last time coming here!!!! Many people there do a half ass job. They should all stick to the same thing. I can't remember the last time a pedicure took all of six minutes. There are at least 4 people there that I have personally encountered where I was dissatisfied with a pedicure. They do have a few good people however they're either not there or they're so busy because everyone is requesting them that you wait for hours. Very bad customer service. I came in on a Thursday and requested no chip on my hands and feet. The next morning I discovered that my feet were terribly messed up. Clearly, the polish hadn't dried before I left. I had a flight to Orlando so didn't have time to return to the salon. Yes, my toes were messed up during vacation. I returned the next Friday morning and was informed that I didn't get the no chip and they would redo it for an extra charge. Note: my child was with me and got no chip on her hands and feet as well. My total bill was $102 and I always tip 20%. So your employee didn't give me no-chip as I requested, didn't confirm that polish was dry before I left and now you're charging me for what originally should have been done but wasn't due to your employee error. The manager Pi is very unprofessional and the nail techs are messy. They only have 2 decent nail techs that have a waiting list longer than Shaq's arms. Pi used a dirty towel to cover my arms while my nails socked off. He also didn't accommodate my disappointment in the service I received. The nail tech ripped skin off of my finger. His response was you will be fine! . He was very nasty and I don't know where he got his business education and tactics. He sucks as a manager.... Very poor customer service and the manger will not accommodate you if you are not satisfied. The service is very slow and their work is messy! They only have about 2 good workers which they are alway busy or booked. If you would like to spend your entire day waiting on one of the two good nail techs be my guest. But don't move so fast. My final time patronizing this establishment the nail tech ripped half of my skin beneath my nail. She then tried to continue finishing my nails while my finger was bleeding. I had to tend to my own wound. I had to request anti bacterial solution because she wasn't going to give me any. At check out I expressed my disappointment to the manager Pi and he said that I would be fine. He tried to throw a $5 off coupon for "my next visit" as if I would be back. He told me to take it or leave it because he wasn't assisting me with this visit. He was very nasty and rude. That is no type of way to run a business! I wish I would have read the comments before letting anyone here touch my feet. I am truly disappointed that my money was wasted on a horrible pedicure. From the employee (Victor) that "worked" on my feet to the front desk receptionist, I am disgusted.First, Victor could not understand for the life of him that I only had no-chip on my natural nail. He insisted that I had acrylic on my nails. Right then, I decided that he will not be touching my nails.Second, I said I wanted my toe nails to be square and what does Victor do? He cuts and file it round. I said I want it square and he said it is but proceeds to fix his mistake. He couldn't get it right so he files down to my skin. He doesn't clean under my nails or around and he doesn't ask me if I want him to scrap or scrub the bottom of my feet - he just scraps until I jerk my foot away to say no. He had the nerve to have an attitude for me being highly disappointed about how my feet are being handled.Lastly, the front desk receptionist tells me next time don't go to him. I said I don't live here to know who to go to. He says he just sends people to who is available at that time meaning he don't care about the quality of their work. Firstly let me start by saying that if you consider yourself to be a woman of class, this probably isn't the place for you. I now live in a different city but I come back to visit family from time to time and I look forward the cheaper prices that Chicago nail salons usually offer. I spent almost more than I would have in my current city. Also, this location has done some expansion and due to its large size, you spend a good 30-45 min. waiting to be serviced. The clientele that comes in is.. for lack of better words, on the ghetto side, and do a great deal of yelling and complaining. I don't know about you but I go to get my nails done to RELAX. The music that plays is anything but relaxing and they don't promote a serene or relaxing environment. Many of the workers are young and behave no better than the customers. 20 minutes before closing I hear the workers yelling literally across the room at one another (in English) to "lock the doors" because no one wanted anymore customers. This is service now? Showing everyone that you hate your job? The woman who did my nails completely rushed them, wasn't very polite, and despite a design I chose that was on THEIR display she couldn't do. Despite me being polite to her regardless, she didn't smile until she saw that I actually tipped her, then she cracked a smile as wide as Kentucky. Needless to say I will not be giving this shop my money again. There are way too many salons in Chicago. Plus good luck finding a parking spot in that congested neighborhood. Read Less

Its Wed May 6, 2015 went in abt 6pm for a polish change on toe nails & fill in & left out at 815pm. TERRIBLE!!! The wait was too freaking long & the tech was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got a no chip polish on my hands & they're already messing up! I guess she didn't let them dry completely under the uv light. I will go back tomorrow to have it fixed. They're so busy trying to get all of our money that the service is super sloppy! Here's the real kicker, they have the audacity to put a sign up saying do a yelp review!!! Shop is nice... Lots of stations. Could be a lot better.... Wait times are waaayy too long. It's not unusual to wait for an hour or more just to get an eyebrow wax. To be honest if CAT didn't do such a good job, I wouldn't come back. If you don't care about loyalty or are not very specific about who or what you want done, you will be fine. I went on friday to get a no chip manicure. The person who did my nails was very slow an unsure of what he was doing. On Saturday morning I noticed one of my nails began to chip, but I had stuff to do and went on with my day. Today I went in to get not only one nail fixed but ALL of them. The service was horrible they told me I had to wait on the same person to come in an redo my nails, I waited for over an hour. Nobody offered to do my nails, even after I expressed how I DID NOT want the same person to do my nails. No refund was given and I left because I could get better service somewhere else. Ahh one of my favorite nail places to go to over the years. This place started off small, cozy, and chic and has since expanded (for the better), but their service has been on a whirlwind of up and down. My favorites Kim and Jason are only there on the weekends, and just yesterday I had to wait an HOUR for a simple eyebrow wax from Jason. Not his fault, but the front was forgetting that their were other people waiting for waxes other than the customers coming from the stations. Anywho. Kim was my favorite to do my nails, and she does a great and precised job doing it, but she has become too popular to squeeze me in when she has other clients, and I often get pushed to another manicurist. Jason is awesome for waxes and eyelashes, and he too has become a star but he's extremely apologetic for your wait and does a great job to make up for it... Not push me off to someone else.I recommend this place if you have time to spare to wait. Plan 1-2 hours for the wait in advance on a weekend, if you can try, go during the week. I have since receive my services up North, 1. Because they remember your name and 2. Because they value great customer service. This once cozy place has turned into chaos and I rather go elsewhere for quality service, then sit for an hour for just eyebrows. I usually go one of about three different routes: 1) The essense of nothingness - names like Air, Breath, Bubbles, Innocence, Nude... 2) Or very whor*-y - with the Tramp, Vixen, Vamp and probably whor*-y... 3) And then there's the food, because you and I both know I like tasty treats - Cappuccino, Chocolate, Cocoa, Cinnamon, etc.... Maybe you're just as predictable? So here they will color-block your sh*t into Trampy Cocoa Bubbles with some gold leaf lines in the middle - hot. I mix it up some now sometimes, and this place is good for mixing it up. Manicure names are more like - graffiti, solar, disco and probably super go-go or some sh*t. Basically these people will make your sh*t glow in the dark or pointy or they'll paint some bombs or some sh*t on your sh*t. Which is of course, in moderation, great. The interior is also surprising plush - painted white moldings on grayish walls, pretty foot bowls and sinks - very comfortable, newer chairs. And it's flanked by a Harold's with a bar and a Target - instant day spa conditions, obviously. Read Less
