Vets are heroic people with nerves ofsteel and aspecial sense ofhumor. Not only their patients can’t say where they have pain, but they are also ready toput onareal comedy show!
- Our Pomeranian started having hair problems. Wetook him tothe vet. They said itwas because ofhis diet, that wewere feeding him wrong. This dog has abetter diet than some people!
Weworked out amenu with the vet. Inthe end, wefound out that itwas the grandmother who was secretly feeding the dog. Because “his eyes are sosad.” ©MyStory/ VK - Afriend ofmine told the story. She was studying tobeavet and ended upworking atanostrich farm. The birds had tobefed, but there was one thing. Ifsomeone islower than anostrich, the proud bird will immediately begin totease the lower “mate.”
The workers came upwith asolution. Before each feeding, they put amop with awhite cloth wrapped around itbehind the neck ofthe robe. This structure was taller than anostrich, and the feeder instantly became the leader ofthe flock.©Working Case/ VK - Iwork asavet. The other day, ayoung couple comes tomefor anappointment. The girl sits down inthe waiting room, and the guy comes tothe counter, says hello.
Iask, “Who are you with?” Without hesitation, hesays, “With mywife!” Ilaughed, and helooked atmewith bewilderment.
Then Iasked, “And who are wegoing totreat?” Hefinally got itand smiled, “The cat.” ©Work Stories/ VK
- Wehave avery sociable and affectionate Scottish Fold atour vet clinic. His hind legs don’t work, sothe doctor left him atthe clinic instead ofputting him tosleep. So, heruns like asprinter onhis front legs.
They say helikes dogs more than cats. One timeI came out ofthe procedure room and found him and some puppy inmycarrier.©AnyankaYa/ Pikabu - Our husky got asore paw. He, poor thing, was barely walking on3legs. Icouldn’t figure out what happened tohim, soI rushed tothe vet.
Along queue, we’re waiting, and here weare inthe vet’s office. The doggy barely enters, Iexplain that it’s been like this for 3days. The vet andI lift the dog onto the table for examination.
Atthat moment the door opens, myhusky jumps down, and onall 4legs rushes down the corridor. Itwas avery fast treatment.©Overheard/ Ideer - Avet friend told this story. Aman comes tohim with acat and says that ithas gained too much weight. The vet examines the cat and announces that it’s pregnant. The owner isindignant and says that the cat stays athome and doesn’t goanywhere.
Time passes, the man shows upwith apologies. The denouement: when noone was athome, some ginger cat regularly came through the window and stole food. Healso had anaffair with the cat.©Overheard/ Ideer
“Big dogs can bescared atthe vet too!”
- Mydaughter’s dog isterrified ofvets. Iam glad that the dog ishers and not mine, and that it’s she, notI, should beashamed atthe vet time after time.
One day, wegathered all the animals from the house and went todovaccinations.10minutes ofembarrassment, and mydaughter comes out with analready vaccinated dog, myhusband andI bring the rest. Wecome out, and see our daughter inthe lobby, who’s sitting there and laughing.
She says that Yoka rushed out ofthe clinic, breathed from horror and realized that weand the cats were left with these terrible doctors. No-no-no, wedon’t abandon our family! And the dog resolutely pulled her back into the clinic.©Elena Marchuk/ ADME - Mycat isvery kind, affectionate, and lazy. With age, hebegan tolose teeth. One fang wouldn’t fall out and wouldn’t let him eat inpeace.
Well, inthe vet clinic, this lazy cushion ripped upthick mittens for examination, acarrier, and astraitjacket. And anesthesia wasn’t allowed due tohis age. The doctor, poor man, heroically pulled out the tooth ofthis piglet. And onhis way home, hewas again acalm and affectionate cat.©Daria Kudryashova/ ADME - Mycat had asurgery. Naturally, anesthesia, all that stuff. Ispoon-fed her, even massaged her back slowly. She kept wobbling, falling over onher side.
Icalled the vet, asking why she was taking solong tocome round. The vet gave brilliant advice: put her favorite treat and discreetly observe. The kitty made sureI was out and ran toeat. I’ve never seen amore contemptuous face.©Overheard/ Ideer - Mydog isseriously ill. Every day webring her tothe drip. And then a“princess” comes into the procedure room. She’s looking for adoctor tovaccinate her cat. The vet took her bythe hand, led her toanother room, purring something inher ear, and she chirped about the poor cat.
Acouple ofminutes later, there’s screaming and shouting from the room. And the nurse brings this girl with scratches into the procedure room. While her scratches were being treated, she was swearing and asking the vet ifneutering would calm down her little demon. She turned out tobeanormal girl.©Elena Marchuk/ ADME
“Mycat won’t come out ofhis carrier atthe clinic.”
- Our puppy had tobepulled away from the vet’s face atthe checkup— hekissed him non-stop. Every time hecame into the clinic, hewagged his tail intensely and gave kisses, even though heknew they did unpleasant things there.
He’s still asweet little chap. He’s wiser now, though. Ihave tocarry him tothe vet oreven drag himin.©I_write toyou/ ADME - Mycat absolutely loves our vets, and they love him too. One day weleft him atthe clinic for anX-ray. Ithen found out that he’d tried toovertake their large dog kennel, was kicked out because abig dog came inand still didn’t understand that hecouldn’t gointhere!
Also, heattacked the receptionist’s pencil case and shouted atpeople until they stroked him. Ignoring was not anoption.©Sirenskye/ Reddit - Our older Labrador got anosebleed after anevening walk. Myhusband, son andI freaked out and took him tothe 24-hour vet. The doctor was calmingus down while putting ashot tothe dog and washing his nose with some solution.
And inthe neighboring office, some noise and tools falling are being heard. Suddenly awhite cat flies out ofthere, drifting across the tiled floor. Adoctor with asyringe runs after him, shouting, “Yogurt, stop!”
And here our dog quieted down for some reason and gave calmly towash his nose, the blood stopped, everyone exhaled. Thank you, Yogurt, for defusing the situation with your epic escape, good health toyou! And our old man isfine, the doctor said itwas just his blood pressure goingup.©MariaYu/ Pikabu
- The cat had intestinal problems. Wetook him tothe vet who gave him shots, but because ofthis the cat didn’t gotothe litter box for 3days. Ibought him Vaseline oil.
Inever thought thatI will laugh and run around the flat, and then call myhusband and mom, crying, “Hedidit! Hewent tothe toilet!” I’m afraid ofwhat will happen when wehave ababy.©Overheard/ Ideer - Iwas told that the cat should not eat 12hours before the appointment and not drink and gotothe toilet 4hours before the appointment. How todeal with “not eating” and “not drinking” isunderstandable, even though the cat resentedit.
The last requirement, onthe other hand, confusedus somuch that wewent toanother vet.©LazurnoeDno/ Pikabu - Mycat issweet assugar athome, but turns into Linda Blair from The Exorcist atthe vet. The first thing she does istake adump onthe table. Not onpurpose, she’s sotraumatized the poop falls out ofher.
She’s hissing and growling, the vet asks meifI want tohold her. Isayno, andI advise the vet toput onsome heavy-duty gloves. Mycat then proceeds toscratch and bite the vet inafit offury.
You know, the reminder postcards the vet sends out tolet you know when it’s time for acheckup? Inever get those.©Eiffel-Tower777/ Reddit
“Mycat isgreat athiding atthe vet’s.”
- One day, atabout 3a.m., agirl came running inwith abox, from which something was screaming. Through her tears, she was asking metohelp her male cat.
Ilooked atthe “martyr” and escorted the owner out ofthe office. And 20minutes later, the British “male cat” gave birth to2wonderful kittens.©Overheard/ Ideer - The cat had dermatitis. Wehad togofor injections 3times.
The first time hescreamed, lashed out, hissed. The doctor wrapped him inatowel togive him ashot. The second time, myhusband drove him, and according tohim, the cat didn’t even meow once.
The third time, itwas meagain. Assoon asweentered the room, the cat started hissing and lashing out sothat the doctor, the nurse andI couldn’t hold him back.40minutes after the injection, wemanaged toget the cat into the carrier. The doctor said, “Let your husband bring the cat next time, heiscrazy with you.” ©Kateryna Karpyuk/ ADME - Once weneeded toweigh our cat. Weenter the vet’s office where the scales are, and there was ahuge Great Dane sitting with the owner and 2vets. Everyone isinapanic, thinking that now mycat isgoing toget hurt.
But they didn’t know that this young lady weighing 4pounds knows how tokeep dogs inline. Inthe end, the owner had tohold the dog inhis arms until wetook the cat out ofthe office. Everyone was laughing, ofcourse, except the poor dog.©Oksana Shakirova/ ADME
“Went tothe toilet inthe sink during his first visit tothe vet.”
- I’m apediatrician. An8-year-old boy and his mother come toanappointment. The patient reports fatigue and lack ofappetite. The little boy asked his mother toleave, saying he’s anadult and will talk tothe doctor himself, and then suddenly pulls out ahamster from his pocket!
Itturns out that itisthe hamster who hasn’t eaten for 3days— since hehas been living inabox under the boy’s bed. The pet was given tohim byafriend. Hedidn’t tell his mom, asanimals inthe house were forbidden.
Wetalked tothe mom. She promised tokeep the hamster and take him tothe vet. Although, Isuspect that hedidn’t eat just because ofstress. Imagine sitting inadark box for 3days.©Work Stories/ VK - Icall the vet from work, “Doyou have rabies vaccine?” Yes, great. Myconversation was heard bythe whole team.
Then the boss comesin, andI shout tohim, “That’s it, I’ve made anappointment, we’re leaving inanhour.” Silence, and then anexplosion oflaughter. The thing isthat the boss’s car was being repaired, andI promised togive him alift, and atthe same time totake mydog for vaccination.©Work Stories/ VK - Our cat is20years old, and for the last 7years she’s been constantly shrieking inacrazy voice. Wetook her tothe vets. Wethought she was deaf and didn’t realize she was meowing very loudly, until wewere told she just liked the sound ofher voice. Her hearing was fine.©MyStory/ VK
